Why a Secondary School?

Martin & Karolyn, Roderick & Grace had the vision of bringing high-quality education to the young people in the town of Kapiri Mposhi, Zambia.  They have all had the privilege of receiving a good education and have enjoyed the excellent resulting life opportunities.

When they heard that there was a significant need for secondary schools in the district of Kapiri they felt the need to act. In Kapiri there are two secondary schools which cater for a small percentage of the secondary school aged population. In total 35 schools would be needed in the area to meet the educational need for some of Zambia’s most underprivileged children. The core team set about planning and preparing for the start of a school that would begin to cater for some of that need.

The reason they are so passionate about The Vinjeru Trust School in Zambia is that they know the love of God through Jesus, and have been so blessed that they want to be a blessing to others. Their prayer is that the school, and its impact on students, staff and the wider community will help many others also experience God’s love. They hope that through observing their lives the students will not only be educated but also want to know more about a personal relationship with Jesus. Ultimately, their hope is that whilst having increased opportunities in life here and now, the students will also come to know God for themselves and be prepared for eternity.
